Your wallet. Your recovery plan.

Protect your wallet

A device can be replaced. A lost recovery phrase may not be. Start with a backup plan, then choose the tools that fit your wallet.

Match the format before choosing the metal

A steel backup stores information; it does not encrypt it. Anyone who can read a complete recovery phrase may be able to use it.

BIP39 · 12 or 24 words

Check the word count and alphabet. Tile products that store the first four letters are usually designed around the English word list; verify support for your language.

SLIP39 · 20-word backups

A 20-word SLIP39 share is not a 12/24-word BIP39 phrase. Keep Metal 20-word is designed for this format; it is not the right model for a SeedAddress phrase.

Hardware wallets

A signing device and its recovery backup are separate parts of your setup. For a new wallet, follow the device’s documented generation and backup process.

Trezor Safe 3

Useful for
A compact device with physical buttons and on-device transaction confirmation.
Check first
Confirm supported assets and your phone or computer. Current Trezor documentation lists limits on setup and transactions with iOS.

Trezor Safe 5

Useful for
A touchscreen interface for reviewing and confirming transactions on the device.
Check first
Check the backup format selected during setup and current iOS compatibility before buying.

Ledger Nano S Plus

Useful for
A USB-C device for a desktop or Android setup.
Check first
Nano S Plus does not support iOS. Check asset support and the apps needed for your wallet.

Ledger Flex

Useful for
A touchscreen signer with wireless connectivity for compatible mobile setups.
Check first
Confirm device compatibility and review transaction details on its screen before approving.

Physical backups

Choose storage that matches your existing backup. Buying a new device does not strengthen a phrase that was generated from weak inputs.

Cryptosteel Cassette Solo

Useful for
A reusable steel tile cassette for an English BIP39 backup of up to 24 words.
Check first
It abbreviates words to four letters. Confirm the alphabet and capacity; assemble and verify the tiles carefully.

Billfodl

Useful for
A steel tile cassette for storing a BIP39 recovery backup offline.
Check first
Check word-list language, tile capacity and the manufacturer’s assembly instructions. Keep the completed cassette private.

Trezor Keep Metal 20-word

Useful for
A permanent punched backup for Trezor’s 20-word SLIP39 format.
Check first
This model does not fit SeedAddress’s 12/24-word BIP39 output. Verify every word before punching; the marks are permanent.

Where will you shop?

Availability and delivery depend on the store. If the seller differs from the manufacturer’s authorised list, check that list before purchasing.

Before you trust a backup

Does buying a hardware wallet make a SeedAddress phrase stronger?

No. The current SeedAddress method is deterministic and adds no random entropy. Keep it for its documented use or for reproducing a phrase originally created here. For a new wallet, prefer the wallet’s documented random generation process.

Is a metal backup encrypted?

No. Steel changes the storage medium. It does not hide the recovery words from someone who can access and read them. Choose both the medium and the storage location carefully.

Is the SeedAddress password a BIP39 wallet passphrase?

No. SeedAddress’s password is an input to its own generator. An optional BIP39 wallet passphrase is a separate part of wallet derivation. If your wallet uses one, its recovery plan must include it.
